Gunmen murdered PDP district and village head in Niger state

The people's democratic party (PDP) district head,  Ahmodu Mohammed in Kampala Village, Bosso Local Government Area of Niger state, and Zakari Ya’u Idris  the village Head Of Madaka in Rafi local government area in Niger state have been murdered by gunmen The PDP Chieftain was killed in his home and his three daughters were kidnapped by the bandits while the Village Head was killed a week after he was abducted by the bandits. Sources told The Nation that the bandits have been after Mohammed for a long time before he was killed on Saturday. It was learned that the bandits were numbered 15 and were armed with sophisticated weapons in which they used to engage the deceased in a fierce gun battle for over two hours. It was also learned that the deceased was shot several times before he was killed and that this attack is the third time the bandits have been attacking Mohammed. Over 100 mummified coffins discovered in the ancient city of Saqqara, Egypt

 Archaeologists in Egypt have discovered more than 100 delicately carved wooden coffins, some with mummies inside and 40 funeral statues in the ancient burial ground located in the city of Saqqara, the Egyptian antiquity authorities said, calling the discovery the biggest find on the site this year. The sealed, wooden coffins, some containing mummies, date back as far as 2,500 years and are in perfect state of preservation," Khaled el-Enany, Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, told reporters in Saqqara on Saturday. The fine condition of the coffins meant that they were possibly the last resting places for the richest people, officials said. There were other objects discovered in the site which include, funeral masks, canopy jars and amulets. "This finding is very significant because it shows that Saqqara was the main burial site of the 26th Dynasty," said Zahi Hawass, an Egyptologist. Higher institutions in kano state to resume October 26th

As so many higher institutions within the country have resumed back to normal activities, kano state higher institutions are yet to resume Yesterday, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure kano state commissioner of higher education declared in a statement as she briefed  journalist in kano state ministry of education headquarters about the resumption of higher institutions in the state. Bunkure said that, the state government has slated 26th October 2020 as the resumption date for higher institutions in the state.  She added, saying, institutions in the state have prepared well based on the reports from officials assinged to go round and check how far institutions have gone with preparation of the complete return of students  The state government has urged the institutions to provide hand sanitizer and face masks to ensure compliance to COVID-19 protocols.

Conditions attached to Primary and secondary schools in kano state ahead of Oct-11-2020 resumption date

  Kano State governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the re-opening of primary and secondary school's  in the state. The governor announced that schools within the state are to resume on Oct-11-2020, Ganduje also gave some conditions attached to schools re-opening   The approval was contained in a memo presented to the Governor by the Hon.
